Gifts For Teachers

The Search for the Perfect Teachers Gift Ends Here!

Dec 5, 2006 Connie Newbauer

Are you searching for that perfect teacher's gift? Search no longer! You'll find practical gifts, gifts to pamper and gifts to entertain right here!

As the holiday season approaches, many traditions use this time to remember some of the most special people in our children’s lives: their teachers.

Perfumes and colognes, long a staple in teacher’s gifts, can be a gift that can’t be used by teachers with allergies, don’t wear that scent or simply have too much from past gift exchanges.

It takes very little effort and just a few moments of creative thinking to discover practical gifts, or gifts that will pamper or entertain someone low on time and long on compassion for our children!

Practical Gifts:

  • A personalized stamp. Teachers sign their names countless times during the school year to staff reports, report cards, notes and passes. Make their day just a little easier by having a personalized stamp made with their name. Give with a stamp pad for an unforgettable gift!
  • A Phone Card. Help teacher’s keep in touch with those loved ones they cannot be with this holiday season! Buy the phone card and pair it with a small plastic phone for an added touch of humor, snuggled into a box of tissue paper!
  • A Gas Card. Who doesn’t need gas these days? Teachers have to drive back and forth to school and to special events too! Buy a gas gift card at a local station near the school and give it tied to a small toy car!
  • Donate. Adopt an animal at the zoo in the teacher’s name, buy a book or two and donate them to the school or public library in his/her name!
  • Certificate to a Teacher’s Supply store. Teachers spend untold amounts on stickers, pens, Kleenexes, stamps, books, classroom decorations and treats for their students – help them out with a gift certificate to a local teacher’s supply store!

Pamper a Teacher:

  • Make a tower of homemade goodies! Teachers can be far too busy to bake for themselves. Make it easy for them to have something tasty on hand for themselves and unexpected guests! Tower your gifts with tins or boxes bought at your local dollar store!
  • Give a dinner. Purchase a gift certificate at a local restaurant – perfect for a quick dinner after a late night at school or a relaxing dinner on the weekend with their spouse!
  • Give a Spa Day. Male or female teachers alike would have a hard time resisting a spa treatment at the end of a long, hard week!

Entertaining Gifts:

  • Play Tickets! Find out what will be playing in town and purchase tickets to a local play!
  • Zoo -to-you! Buy a zoo or public museum pass – they’ll love the experience for an entire year and remember you each time they go!
  • Feeln' Sporty! Tickets to local athletic events, pro or minor league or college – baseball, football, hockey, and basketball – it’ll make them cheer!
  • Treat Me! Buy a pair of movie tickets and package them with a box of microwave popcorn and box of candy for a sweet treat!

In the end, you may consider giving the gift that could mean more than any listed above: a card with your heartfelt sentiments about what their impact has been on your child.

Dorit Sasson :
Interesting and well written article. When a student brings you a spa certificate, then you really must be special to him or her!

I enjoyed reading your articles.

I appreciate that! Good teachers deserve so much more than many of us can give through a small gift...like a raise, perhaps!

A raise WOULD be nice. :) I just gave all the teachers in my kids' lives Starbucks gift cards. They almost cried with gratitude! ...Well, not literally, but teachers sure appreciate a quality cup of joe.
Merry Christmas, Connie!

Teachers all around the globe are so under paid....if we would pay teachers what they were worth...they'd be making more than major league athletes...just my humble opinion1
