How can you tell if your child is seeing all of the world they should be?

Vision problems in children are a leading cause of school failure. Unfortunately, a parent assumes a child's eyesight is fine unless the child registers a complaint. However, if a child has always seen incorrectly, they may not realize anything is wrong!

Vision, like hearing, not only impacts academic progress, but can also impact self-esteem. A child, not realizing there is a problem will often wrongly assume that they are incapable of learning - reading - listening or behaving. A child's psyche easily falls victim to these erroneous perceptions such as being stupid or bad.

If you notice any of the following symptoms, or your child complains, call a pediatric optometrist! Pediatric optometrists use special equipment and techniques to rule out vision problems.

-Double or blurred Vision

- Squinting at objects very far or very near

- Eyes "out of alignment"

- Unable to See Blackboard

- Holding reading material close to face or far away

- Frequent Headaches
